WHAT IS "OPTIMAL GLYCEMIC RESPONSE"?

Sure, that sounds fancy, but we're aware that not everyone reading this knows what that entails, so let us explain:

To start, the Glycemic Index is a tool for ranking food (carbohydrates specifically) on how it effects your blood sugars. Low glycemic index carbohydrate foods are digested and absorbed by the body more gradually, thereby allowing blood sugars and insulin levels to rise more slowly with better balance. Zuun Nutrition utilizes carbohydrate sources with a low glycemic index to ensure a manageable rise in blood sugar.  

Glycemic Response, on the other hand, is a measurement of how much a particular food raises your blood sugar levels after you eat it. In general lower glycemic index food have a more favourable glycemic response.  An optimal glycemic response gives you a steady blood sugar level which helps the body function ideally. The glycemic response is a more real-world measurement than glycemic index, so it is more effected by how a particular food is digested and metabolized.   

Ideally food should provide your body with enough sugar/carbohydrate to energize it optimally for its requirements. In other words, you should have just the right amount of carbohydrate energy necessary to fuel your activities. Zuun Nutrition is unique in that it provides good amounts of carbohydrate energy but it is absorbed at a desirable rate which allows the energy to be used over longer periods of time. This has a favourable effect on blood sugar, and helps avoid highs or lows in blood sugars. This means less incidences of food causing hypoglycaemia or hyperglycaemia.
